Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years later as a general reporter. 1981 was the year she began reporting on the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional correspondent. Then, in 1992 she was made Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist and host of the TV program Meet the Press. She was on the panel in 1988's presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories such as arm control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
